What are "Roleplay Rules"?IMAGINE LIFE's Roleplay Rules apply to every player (administration, guests, residents, tourists, temporary members, etc.) across every city and wherever else they apply. These rules are nonnegotiable. The rules are as follows: SIM RATING: The Downtown, Chicago land rating is Moderate, however, future areas will contain adult themes. While children and teens under 18 are allowed on Moderate sims only, they must also be supervised at all times and should absolutely not be in adult-only areas. Sexual activity (consented) should happen in concealed spaces and/or in private messages. If caught, you may be taken into custody by the police, be fined, and even given jail time. ALLOWED CHARACTERS: Although you can create endless storylines -- supernatural beings, furries, Bloodlines characters (werewolves, vampires, etc.), talking animals, cartoon avatars, or any other mystical or odd creature that is not human is not allowed unless there is an event calling for it. NO METAGAMING: Any information you find out OOC (Out Of Character) must stay outside your character’s knowledge. You cannot use that information to your advantage nor to force scenes out of people. NO POWER-GAMING: Please expect to find scenes that don’t always work in your favor. Avoiding losing or attempting to force things into your favor is power gaming and will get you removed. Killing other people’s characters without their consent is prohibited and can / will be reversed if seen fit by admin. MUST SEE A SCENE THROUGH: When someone initiates a roleplay scene with you, you must complete the scene even if the odds are not in your favor. If you are getting robbed, you must see it through. Some of your actions may cost you your character’s life if you are not careful so please be realistic about it. EXCEPTION: If the scene is inappropriate or triggering, you may contact an administration. You also may contact an admin if someone is attempting to kill your character without consent. HANDLING FAIL RP: In the event that you are interacting with someone who is not great at roleplaying, it is imperative / important that you continue to see the scene through. Do NOT stop the scene to report the player or call them out. It could be a learning experience for the other player, but it also keeps the roleplay fun. If someone is harassing you or purposely destroying the scene, report it. KEEP OOC DRAMA OOC: There is no tolerance for drama that’s outside of roleplay. If you have an issue with someone that cannot be dismissed or ignored, you should not interact with that person at all. You should also not take things happening IN character personally and creating animosities because of it. NO FREE ROAMING / UNGUIDED TOURISM: This is a STRICT roleplay community; all interactions should be in character. Whenever you are around the sim, you should be prepared to interact with others and complete scenes. Tourists are to be accompanied by an authorized individual such as a realtor or tour guide. RESPECT SAFE ZONES: Government buildings and any other location considered a safe zone is a strict no violence zone! Fighting or shooting in a safe zone will get you arrested and tried in court. ATTIRE: All avatars should be dressed appropriately in public settings. If you are caught in a public setting dressed inappropriately (thong/panties/no shirt for females), you may be taken into custody by the police, fined, and even given jail time for Indecent Exposure. NO TRESPASSING: Tourists, and even other residents, should never be on others’ private property or closed businesses’ unauthorized for any reason. These rules are liable to be updated at any time as the community progresses. These rules were last updated: March 27, 2025.
-
What happens if I break a Roleplay Rule?If you are caught or reported for breaking a rule, you will only be warned twice before you are banned and your character is deported. In order to maintain a community that is enjoyable for everyone, you must abide by all rules. In special cases, where characters are simply not having roleplay etiquette, the character will be fined or jailed instead of deported.
-
Is there a strike system for Roleplay Rules? You get two warnings via ticket in Discord. Immediately after those two warnings, you are removed.
-
Can I appeal my ban/deportation?Yes, you can appeal a ban or deportation by submitting a Ban Appeal form.
-
How do I report a player?Currently, you can only report a player using our ticket system in Discord. You must include a screenshot or clip of the incident. If you do not have a screenshot or clip, a chat log may suffice if you have a witness.
-
What are things I should report players for?You should report players for any of the following: - Disregarding Rules - Any Disrespect OOC - Any OOC talking / distractions (Talking loudly on mic to background) - Grieving (Particle effects, spamming, pushing, destroying environment) - "Trolling" - Instant Kills, Power-Gaming, God-modding - Bug Misuse Do NOT report just because a scene is not going your way.
-
How are OOC situations handled? In Discord: Both parties are temporarily timed out and put into a private ticket to handle the dispute. If it cannot be resolved, one or both parties are removed. Inworld: Both parties (or the aggressor) are immediately ejected from the land and will be teleported by administration within 24-48 hours for review before they can return. If there is a scene is going on during the altercation, depending on how far it went, it can be wiped or the players would be considered "having a manic episode" and uninvolved characters should be confused on what happened.
-
What are "City Laws"?IMAGINE LIFE has a politics! Our city laws are enforced by our law enforcement and protected by our judicial branch. Each city is different. These rules are made to be broken unlike our Roleplay Rules. These laws do NOT trump our rules so please remain respectful and compliant. City Laws can be used to get you out of trouble or get you into trouble, especially if you do not know your rights. The City Laws are located in our Discord in the City Law channel.
-
Can I fight for my rights in court?Yes! Not only against police officers, either. You can schedule court dates against other players for a numerous of reasons such as child support, car accidents, and more. The limit is your imagination.
-
Is there jail roleplay? Not currently [March 27. 2025]
-
What is the jail time conversion?Until our prison and all of its mechanics are complete, we currently have the following jail time conversion: 10 months = 10 RL minutes 10 years = 10 RL hours Going to jail for these amounts of time should be roleplayed out as if they were really locked up. In the future, there will be a prison thus longer times in jail so that criminals can roleplay their sentences.
-
What is "Roleplay Etiquette?"Roleplay Etiquette is all about how you should behave in roleplay scenes-- the do's and dont's. Here is a list of examples. I. EMOTING: Characters are required to use "/me" when emoting or explaining an action, quotation marks ( “ “) when speaking, apostrophes (‘ ‘) when thinking, and parentheses or brackets ( ( ) / [ ]) when speaking OOC. Emotes should be in third person at all times. Example: /me had walked into the store with a case of open beer in her hand, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. Her expression read 'annoyed' all over it. "A man just came through here and bought this knowing he was supposed to. Can I get a refund?" She asked with irritation in her tone. 'Of course he's not gonna give me one though.' She thought to herself. Others would read: Vyxen Morehead had walked into the store with a case of open beer in her hand, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. Her expression read 'annoyed' all over it. "A man just came through here and bought this knowing he was supposed to. Can I get a refund?" She asked with irritation in her tone. 'Of course he's not gonna give me one though.' She thought to herself. Other players cannot read thoughts so they should not respond to them. II. MIC: Being on microphone is acceptable as long as you remain in character. If you find that you cannot stay in character while on mic, please refrain from using it in public places / in the middle of scenes. Sudden laughter in a serious setting can kill a mood or cause someone to kill you. III. LANGUAGE: When talking on mic or in character, you must use the language guidelines in reference to firestorm features or anything alluding to the fact that you are playing a game. IV. REALISM: We understand that Second Life is just a game, however, we are roleplaying on a land that is simulating real life so scenes should make sense-- for example: children should not be performing unrealistic behaviors such as robbing or driving cars. V. TELEPORTING: You cannot teleport mid-scene and/or right in front of someone. ALWAYS close your scene out even if it’s roleplaying abruptly running away. Go around the corner or into an empty room nearby to teleport out. It only takes a few seconds. VI. RESPONSES: Wait for a response [unless roleplaying on microphone] to give everyone a chance to interact with whatever happened. Moving too fast in the scene ruins it for others and makes it hard for them to keep him. Do not spam responses because you think someone is moving too slow or urge them to hurry up. Other guides will be added in the future to help people adapt to the roleplay environment we are trying to create.
-

-
Can I get access to the sim without making a character? No.
-
How do I apply to join the community? To join the community, simply create an account on this website by answering a few questions about your character and yourself. You can select "Click to Wake Up" at the top right to pull up the application. The Character Submission Form (CSF) is for the basic information on the character you will play in IMAGINE LIFE: Chicago. You submit their details such as their age, gender, location, and a starting backstory. This is required to be considered because we are a strict roleplay community and while you are on the sim, you must always be in character. To weed out those who may not be interested in the community for what it is, we preform what we consider a "screening process" of everyone's characters. Once it's submitted, you will receive the Tourist role until you are approved!
-
What do I do after my character is approved?Create a ticket in the Discord as the Story Directors review your application. Once they're done, they will approve you and send you a welcome message in the Discord ticket [unless they have feedback]. If they have feedback, they will let you know what needs to be fixed in order to get approved.
-
I'm not good at writing backstories, what should I do?We recommend using ChatGPT.
-
Why did I get rejected?Your application was not filled out correctly You did not explain the terms correctly Your backstory was not detailed enough, or confusion To find out exactly which applies to you, create a ticket.
-
Can I create multiple characters? Not at this time.
-
I got approved. Now what? After approval, you'll receive a welcome message. In that welcome message explains the detail of how you book your flight and get started.
-
How do I add a character to the Character Registry?Go to the Character Registry page then select "Add Character". This will take you to the form to fill out your character sheet. You must at least fill out all required information, other information can be added later.
-
What if I just want to take pictures?Unfortunately, Chicago is not a picture city. We encourage everyone to take pictures and tag us! However, if you are a tourist, your best option is to use Live Mode on Anypose or Pose Mode on Black Dragon, pose locally using an animation, or take pictures in action to capture your scene. We will not under any circumstance turn rez on for tourists, so please do not ask.
-
What is a Lifestyle Package?Lifestyle Packages are considered "cheats" or "head starts" in the roleplay, which is why they are limited. It gives you accommodation towards details in your backstory such as a career/business, certain amount of money, or notoriety. The price ranges depending on demand, compromise, and profitability.
-
How do I get a Lifestyle Package? You can get a Lifestyle Package by creating a ticket. However, you must first be an approved citizen, and you must ask for the accommodation in the initial welcome thread or before you fly in for the first time. You cannot add a lifestyle package to a character who is already in the city.
-
I don't want to start off broke, what do I do?If you missed your window of opportunity to get a Lifestyle Package, you must purchase currency instead.
-
What is the currency in the city?We use regular dollars, but most popularly-- credit cards. Our roleplay money is on a card in which we can track transactions and develop an economy. In the future, once our HUD is complete, there will be an inventory and crafting system in which you have to buy with roleplay currency. At the moment, you can only exchange, buy goods, pay tickets off, and use it for services. We also accept cash-- which is what we call Linden in the city.
-
How do I purchase currency? You must first register for a bank card at the bank. Once you have a card, you can speak with a teller about purchasing currency. If no teller is available, please make a ticket in the Discord.
-
What is the currency conversion?Credit is worth half of Linde. Examples are seen below: $2,500 = $L 5,000 $5, 000 = $L 10,000 (and so forth) The lowest amount you can buy is $2,500.
-
Why is creating a character not enough to be considered a resident?Although every person in the city is required to roleplay; some people are there for a good time, not a long time. We want to keep the options for housing and other resident perks to belong to those wanting a more serious, long-term experience. Not being a resident does not stop anyone from enjoying what we have to offer, it only limits you from capabilities a resident would have.
-
What can I do as a civilian?Civilian Life can be fun too. You don’t have to be a gang member, business owner, or a criminal to enjoy immersive roleplay. To enhance this, we wanted to convey alluring and fun experiences, and by that we mean you can choose to live the luxurious life or the hood life. In the luxurious life of a civilian, there’s plenty of storylines to play. Organizations: Join or create a club to meet like-minded people and become a part of something bigger than yourself. Neighborhood Watch: Earn money by reporting crimes in your area! Book Club: Meetup weekly / monthly to discuss that book that you guys agreed to finish. Mile High Club: For the elite and established! If you are approved to join this club, you’ll enjoy a world brand new. (Coming Soon) Sorority/Fraternity Link Up: For Greek Life! Entrepreneurship: Start your own business from home or a purchased property -- daycares, workshops, yoga studios, etc. With hood civilian roleplay, there are a number of things to do and be. Freelancers: In real life, the hood is full of freelancers — at home hair stylists, nail techs, makeup artists, or even finding someone to do your taxes. These are all things you can roleplay out. Welfare: This state-funded program is designed to provide financial or other aid to individuals with love funds. We aren’t saying this is exclusive for the “hood” lifestyle but it is an essential part. Child Support: For our baby mamas that deserve compensation. Take that deadbeat to court and get financial assistance from him! Section 8: Need assisted living? Apply for housing support at the Secretary Of State. (Coming Soon) Food Stamps & WIC: Need assistance stocking that fridge? Apply for this assistance program at the Secretary Of State. (Coming Soon)
-
Is there health / stats? As of March 27, 2025, there are not currently stats, health, or any type of life simulation meters at the moment. If there is a demand for it, we will optionally add it later. However, when fighting or doing actions, you may find yourself getting injured due to an unsuccessful attempt. You’ll have to go to the hospital to get healed, however, sometimes the injury could be serious to the point that you will need a cast or be bedridden. There is also a chance you could develop a sickness or disease, whether sexually transmitted or not. It is recommended to go to the doctor once every three weeks for check-ups and tests because you never know.
-
How do I "build" my backstory?Roleplay in the world and see where it takes your character.
-
How do I find people to roleplay with?We recommend exploring the city, discord, groups, and forums!
-
What are subplots?Subplots are like side stories or mini quests for your character and other characters to be a part of. Characters use these to bridge gaps in their roleplay or build connections with other players. People may request subplots in the "PLOTTING" thread in our Discord. Usually, people will request for someone who is looking to play a certain role in their roleplay and if it aligns with your character, you would accept. Example: Kitari had been stripping for seven years in the past and she had ran away from the terrors of the club, finally settling into something civil. Suddenly, her ex-pimp popped back into her life and turned it all to shambles. (Seeking Ex-Pimp) Someone who's roleplay fits the villain ex-pimp subplot would accept the subplot and the two would start planning how to start the roleplay off then go forward from there.
-
How can I log my storyline? To build a proper backstory, you will need to consider every aspect of your character. s you roleplay, scenarios that occur will build onto your character’s present story, but your backstory needs to be strong in order to assist with this. Your backstory should include past traumas, important happenings, and relationships with other characters (non-playable and/or active characters). You should detail this in the Character Registry as well so others can see your character develop overtime and to make it easier to keep track of. You can also consistently update your backstory in the Background Check thread on Discord.
-
Can my character die / be killed?Unfortunately, death is a part of life. Whether through reckless actions or natural causes, there is a chance that your character can die. However, you cannot be killed by another character unless you approve it first. In some cases, your character will be killed by a government official for breaking rules. If a government official rules that your character must be killed, there is no way around it. In the event that your character dies, you can then create another character that is related to the previous character such as a cousin or sibling — or even friend. The prior character must be detailed in the character’s bio so that others are aware. If you lose too many characters, you may risk losing the right to create another character. Additionally, if you are banned from the city, you cannot create another character on another platform without consent. If you purchase LIFE Insurance, you can transfer your assets from one character to another. However, the character will need to be created before the death (this can be arranged with a government official if you have an unexpected death). You cannot use LIFE Insurance if you are banned or killed by a government official for breaking the rules
-
Is there gang roleplay?Yes!
-
How do I join/claim a gang?To join a gang, you must be initiated into the gang. Once accepted, the Gang Leader will need to create a ticket to make sure you are given the correct role.
-
How do I create a gang?GANG REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Number of Members: 5 Backstory How the gang started / came together Initation Type (Jumped In, etc.) Starting Territory Allies / Enemies (Optional) Purpose / What they stand for Gang Identity Name Flag/Chain Male / Female / Unisex
-
What are the Gang Rules?GANG RULES: INTERACTION REQUIREMENTS: Gangs must have at least 5 interactions with another before being able to consider another gang an rival gang. All 5 interactions do not have to be with the same members, it could total out between different players. “SLIDING” COOLDOWNS: There is an hour cooldown after attacking another gang. Attackers should stay active in the city and outside to allow the other gang to retaliate before being able to initiate again. LOGGING INTERACTIONS: Gang Leaders are responsible for logging all interactions between members with other gangs (and if situations arise within your gang). Gang Members should be communicating with the leaders after each interaction so it can be logged. Logging your interactions affects your gang’s reputation so it’s important that you’re on that. GANG WARS: Depending on your interactions with another gang, you may be approved for a gang war over territory and/or other benefits or consequences. These are timed, which is decided by government officials, so that gangs are not going to war all day. Gang wars should come to a complete stop once the time is up and if police are on the scene (because it’s likely they will be), members should not invalidate or ignore the scene that might ensue. GANG WAR COOLDOWNS: Once wars are over, gangs may request to schedule another or extend the current one. However, there is a 48 hour cooldown before another war can be initiated. GANG’S BUSINESSES: Gang Leaders have full control over their businesses, however, they are at risk of rival gang interactions. Gangs' businesses are NOT green or neutral zones unless manually controlled / enforced by the gang (meaning, gang members punish those who break the rules or call the police). Enemies may shoot up, rob, and vandalize your business; they may even run your customers off.
-
What are the gang perks?Gang Leaders may open businesses as a cover-up, or clean their money using existing businesses. To expand territories, gangs will have to go to war for them. Gang Events may occur that give gang temporary or permanent benefits or consequences. These events are completely random and cannot be postponed or altered once set. Events may include money/drug drops, police raids, secret investigations, RICO cases, competitions, and more. Gangs are allowed to be involved in other crime activities detailed in “CRIME LIFE”, however, they are limited by reputation and members for how much they can do. Small gangs should not have dirty cops on payroll or own large prostitution rings.
-
Can I do gang-related activities without being in a gang?If you are not sanctioned, you cannot take claim over territory, properties, and/or drugs. You also cannot participate in gang wars.
-
Do I have to be in a gang to do criminal activities? No. You are not limited to creating a gang to be involved in the crime life. Prostitution Rings, Scamming, Dirty Cops, Money Laundering Businesses, etc. are all possible storylines. You do not have to be in a gang to be a criminal. Our city laws are made to protect, but also to motivate / inspire criminals of different crimes to commit (and hopefully get away with). The fastest way to get involved in crime roleplay is by selling or manufacturing drugs. LIFE: Imagine Chicago has a custom, completely interactive and animated drug dealer experience with the starting drugs of marijuana, cocaine, and heroin. Eventually, we will add other drugs and substances. Whether you are doing, selling, and/or manufacturing drugs, the experience has many different outcomes. You may become addicted or accidentally overdose if taking drugs. If you are manufacturing, you start out with low quality drugs but as you develop more skill, the quality will become better. You can also lace your products and make a fake version of it. You can sell drugs to NPCs for credit or sell to other players for cash, you’ll also have to clean your dirty money in businesses (money laundering) or by exchanging it. Gangs should only sell within their territories. If you are caught with drugs, depending on the amount, you will be arrested and tried accordingly.
-
What are other things I can do to be in the life of crime? If drugs are not your thing or you just want to try other crime activities to make larger amounts of money, you can do one of the following: Heists: Large heists like store /bank / jewelry robberies, pick-up spot raids, prison breaks /rescues, and police station heists are great but extremely risky ways to pick up extra money or items. (NOT IN BETA) Pimping / Prostitution: One thing almost everyone in the virtual community loves is erotic roleplay. As a pimp, you can “own”/manage multiple women / men (18+) to sell their erotic roleplay skills for a fee. As a prostitute, you can choose to go out on your own (which can be risky) or work under a pimp who can give you bonuses and larger payouts — though you’ll have to cut him a piece of the action. Please remember that you are NOT your character, do not judge yourself or others for how you/they choose to roleplay their LIFEstyle. Scamming: There are multiple ways to scam in LIFE: Imagine Chicago. We have items you can buy to print out counterfeit IDs, credit cards, and check slips to make lump sums of money. (NOT IN BETA) Robbery/Burglary: Petty robberies such as store robberies, robbing NPCs and other characters at gunpoint, or breaking into businesses or homes is another way to get quick items to pawn and/or money. Embezzlement & Extortion: Businesses aren’t exempt from criminal activity either. You can scare employers or employees into paying you money for protection from others or yourself (if you have enough reputation). Or, if you’re a working and willing employee, you can steal in-game money from employers. Dirty Cops: If you have enough reputation and resources, you can put corrupt cops on your payroll to help you get away with crimes. As a corrupt officer, you can accept bribes and large sums of cash in return for covering up crimes and letting people off.
-
Are there Criminal Rules?Yes. Criminal Rules: NO FORCED SELLS: You cannot force another character to sell you their property (car, house, business, etc.) during a robbery. NO ATM ROBBERIES: You may rob a character for what is currently on their person, but NOT their ATM accounts. (NOTE: In BETA, you can be robbed of what's on your card in roleplay but they cannot make you go to your bank account and withdraw / add more money.) ROBBERY: You may rob any person, gang member, even government employees (if you are bold enough), any time of day. However all robberies must be done IN CHARACTER. LIMITED SCAMMING: You may scam a person / business out of the max of $30,000 (in game, NOT linden). NO INVISIBLE BACK POCKETS: You cannot rob a character for something that is not there. You may only take what is in the present area. NO PUBLIC OBSCENE ROLEPLAY: If there is any obscene, graphic, or otherwise inappropriate roleplay that may be considered appalling to most, it should be roleplayed privately amongst consenting individuals ONLY. You may withdraw consent and void the scene at any point in which any party becomes uncomfortable
-
What are the safe zones?City Businesses that are SAFE ZONES: RUSH University Medical Center Chicago PD Chicago Fire 16 Fire Department Chicago Municipal Department of Justice Chicago Secretary of State The Stellar Chicago Bank is government but could possibly be robbed so we won’t consider it a safe zone, however, police must be online to potentially intercept the bank heist. Government jobs such as policemen, firemen, judges, and hospital staff should all be treated with respect as if they were in the actual position. Of course you may meet dirty cops and rude workers, so this is purely situational. You should never bluntly disrespect government employees OOC / IC unprovoked.
-
What are some events that could happen?Natural Disasters: Tornadoes, Earthquakes, Storms, Blizzards, and other natural disasters of different magnitudes can affect the city — Flood warnings, natural disaster watch alerts, and other emergency announcements will help you prepare but there’s a possibility it could inflict damage on your property! Amber Alerts: Kidnappings may happen in your area and if you can assist, you may be rewarded! These kidnappings may be NPCs or actual characters, so be careful, you never know what you’ll walk into. Disease Outbreaks: Sickness is everywhere but outbreaks could spark that could threaten your character’s health. The government will require that everyone get tested or shots administered, but the ultimate decision is up to you. Gang Wars / Events: Many would assume these events only affect gangs, however, civilians may be affected through property damage, theft, or being caught in the crossfire. Property Damage: Aside from natural disasters, your property could get damaged from a break-in, gas leak, flooding, or sudden fire! Property Insurance is the best way to prevent or protect yourself from this. Elections: Whether NPC or actual characters go up to the poll, elections will be held from time to time to elect government officials that will impact laws. Voting for the right (or wrong) person can either give you benefits, such as legalization of weed, or consequences, such as higher taxes. Important Celebrity Scandals: Celebrity Scandals may make the news. This might not affect your character if you aren’t tied to them, but it could put you in a RICO investigation if you are. Rumors: Rumors could be made up about you or your business from an “unknown source”.
-
Is there a newsletter or blog to keep track of events?Yes, on the "Community" tab, you will find our various blogs which keep track of different type of events!
-
Can I become a journalist and write for the paper / host the news?Yes. Since we do not have a headquarters for it right now, you will have to create a ticket if you are interested in that field.
-
How do I buy an apartment? You must meet with a realtor inworld to review your options. Once you have found your dream home, you will have to pay an application fee and deposit to secure your spot. Your move-in day is usually within 24-48 hours so that the realty team has time to set up your home. On move-in, you pay your first week's rent and maintain it from there! Make sure you pay your bills on time, or you'll find that your power is out!
-
Can I become a realtor?Yes. You can start your own independent realty company or work for an existing one. However, this must be approved by an administrator. Commissions will be discussed in the ticket.
-
What are the Property Rules?BASIC PROPERTY RULES REZZING: Rezzing on walkways is PROHIBITED (unless taking a picture). Please clean up after yourself when you are done with props, pose stands, etc. PRIM LIMIT: Remain in your prim limit, otherwise you risk your items being returned to you. SECURITY ORBS: Because most properties are so close together (due to city living), security orbs are not allowed and most spaces are not parceled off. You have to understand the risks that come with city life. INSURANCE: Events happen that may affect your property such as natural disasters, robberies, and other scandals. To be insured (have your property restored at a reasonable time/be compensated for damages), you’ll want to buy property insurance. Without it, you are not protected against any events. RENTAL PROPERTIES NO PROPERTY REFUNDS: Per your leasing agreements, you will NOT receive a refund on any property (rental nor business) even if you break the lease by leaving early. PROPERTY TRANSFERS: You are allowed to transfer from one property to another for a fee, based on the property value. AMENITIES: Basic amenities such as kitchen, bathroom, washer/dryer are all included. DESIGN: You may design your PRIVATE property to your fitting. BUSINESS PROPERTIES CREATION: You must reach out to a realtor and have your business approved before payments are made. DESIGN: Business design must match the aesthetic of the surrounding area and be stylized to your business’s practice (e.g. a clothing store must LOOK like a realistic clothing store).

Can I rent out my property?Yes. Optionally, you can rent a property and re-lease it out to other residents (furnished/unfurnished) but you will still be responsible for the rent unless you transfer ownership [in which case, you will NOT be able to retain funds from the new renters in return for the property]. You may only rent out / receive funds recurringly for property if it is REMAINING under your name.

If approved you will be given a business license for in the approved business field ONLY, then you’ll be directed to a Realtor to help you choose a property. If you want the business you open to be exclusive to you, you must buy copyright ownership over the business. You will have two weeks to furnish, staff, and open your business unless granted an extension. Optionally, you could start a business illegally or be a freelancer (independent business with no employer or employees). These types of businesses are not allowed to have services or goods over $L1,000 ($2,000). You are also at risk of getting discovered (in roleplay) and convicted for jail time and/or a fine.

What currency does my business have to be in?This is purely situational. Depending on the job or service, jobs or careers may pay in cash/check (linden) or credit/direct deposit (in-game currency). Most perks and roleplay elements are paid for with the fictional currency. It is also important to note that various certificates may be required to properly run your business, for example: liquor permits are required to run bars or restaurants that serve liquor, culinary certifications are required to serve food, law licenses are required to practice law, and you have to pass the police academy to join the force. You can usually pay for these in linden if you don't want to go through the experience. However, if your business mostly consists of a service with no actual real product, it is highly recommended to at least have a credit option. You can accept both.

Can I pay for my licenses in credit (roleplay money)? Some licenses can be purchased with credit while the ones you maintain (has expirations) cannot.
